Happy Birthday Blog!
Holy cow, I can’t believe it’s already been a whole year since I started this blog! The time has flown by.
Thank you, dear readers, for following along with me on this journey. Your thoughtful comments and support mean more than you know.
Every week for the past year, I’ve posted tidbits from my life: random musings, writerly rambles, discussions about art and artists, etc. I thought it’d be fun to revisit the top 3 viewed blog posts:
1) Brian’s Story — This is the most personal post I’ve shared, and is especially relevant given the recent spotlight on mental illness. I’ve been searching for a charity to donate to and, in the aftermath of Robin William’s passing, discovered Bring Change 2 Mind. It seems like a great organization that strives to reduce the stigma of mental illness, as well as aid those who need help.
2) On Writer’s Block — I was somewhat surprised that this post made the cut, although admittedly this is the top question I get from people when I mention that I’m a writer. In this post, I talk about the types of writer’s block I encounter, and how I personally combat each one. That being said, the writing journey is filled with potholes, and I’m sure new forms of writer’s block will present themselves to me as I persevere.
3) Exciting News About La Chusa — Where I announced that my short story, La Chusa, won first place in the 2014 Denver Woman’s Press Club’s Unknown Writers’ Contest! This is where I initially posted the story, but it has since moved here, to the short story section of my website. A huge thank you to everyone who read it; it’s been beyond amazing to hear your feedback.
I’m looking forward to another fantastic year of blogging and chatting with the best readers in the world. In that spirit, are there any subjects you wish I’d write about, or posts you’d like to see?
