Updates & My Thriller Girl Summer
Hello! Yes, I’m still here! And I’m still writing!! I’m just terrible at updating my website lol.
I’ve had sooo many people ask if there will be another book in the Colorado Wine Mystery series (THANK YOU), and the short answer is: not right now.
The slightly longer answer is: I love Parker and her world, and am deeply honored whenever I hear from a reader who has connected with the series. My publisher decided they weren’t interested in continuing the series, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m done with it. In fact, I have an outline, a title, and even a couple chapters for Book 5 and may decide to pursue it someday, but at present, I have other ideas and projects I’m more excited about. Which brings me to the second part of this update…
Eight years ago, I got an idea for a thriller. How do I know it was eight years ago? Because that was when my daughter was a newborn and I was spending sleepless nights awake with her, observing how the world changes in the darkness–and through the filter of exhaustion. It reminded me of the Hitchcock masterpiece Rear Window. The seeing what’s happening outside your window at all hours while wrestling with feelings of being trapped and entering a new phase of life, which, I thought, would work beautifully with the complex emotions of becoming a new mom.
When I told my agent about my new-mom spin on Rear Window, she got super excited, which only fueled my own excitement and–voila!–the summer seemed like the perfect time to finally put pen to paper. Thus I’m embarking on what I’m dubbing my Thriller Girl Summer.
I used to do this eons ago when I blogged more regularly, but below is what I’m currently listening to and reading. What’s on your summer reading list? Do you enjoy thrillers? If so, do you have any recommendations??
