Adventures in Boston

IMG_1255I’m slowly easing back into the daily routine after an amazing vacation with my wonderful husband and sweet toddler daughter.

Boston is somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit for its history. The first spark of revolution was ignited there–the Boston Tea Party, Paul Revere’s famous ride, the Battle of Bunker Hill (which, I learned, actually took place on Breed’s Hill).

And, having just finished copyedits on book 1 AND the first draft of book 2, it was the *perfect* time to get away!

We made so many memories, magical moments I know I’ll remember forever. Lunch at Quincy Market, a lobster roll from Legal Seafood at a table overlooking the harbor, and a picnic in Little Italy complete with pizza from Pizzeria Regina and a Nutella cannoli from Mike’s Pastry. Hmmm…funny how so many of my memories surround food.

IMG_1318Because in addition to eating, we also walked the Freedom Trail, played at the playground at Boston Common (the oldest public park in the U.S.), checked out the New England Aquarium (home to the 90-year-old, 550-pound sea turtle, Myrtle), went on a cruise around the harbor, visited the site of the Boston Tea Party, and explored the incredible Children’s Museum.

What really impressed me about Boston was the vibe. Big city, but small enough to be able to walk almost everywhere. The new meshed with the old; cobblestone streets and historic sites seamlessly mixed with modern skyscrapers. And the people, all the different accents, cultures, and ways of life. Love, love, love.

Now that I’m home, it’s time to dive back into book 2 and, as we transition into my favorite season, dig all my scarves out of storage.

How did you cap off summer? Have you made memories lately you know you’ll always remember? What are you most excited about for fall?
