Top 5 Fantasy World Vacations
There’s something about fall that makes me long to tromp through the woods on some mysterious and fantastical adventure.
Maybe it’s the crisp leaves, brisk air, and bubbling crockpot dishes. Or maybe it stems from growing up in the Rocky Mountains with an overactive imagination.
Here are the Top 5 Fantasy Worlds I would *love* to visit (note, all these vacations would take place when evil powers are at bay):
1) Redwall… For the overall cuteness and to partake in a delicious feast. Seriously, who knew the good critters of Redwall Abbey would eat such delectable sounding food?! Strawberry fizz, medowcream cake, leek and potato soup. Yes, please! I’d especially want to visit during one of their summer feasts and enjoy lazying by the pond while observing all the adorable inhabitants.
2) Lothlorien… Because of the giant silver and gold trees and, of course, the elves. Truly, I would be happy to visit either Lothlorien or Rivendell in Middle-earth. But the towering other-worldly trees in Lothlorien! Oh, how I want to live in those trees, breathe in the fresh air, and see the view from the topmost branches. Bonus, lembas.
3) The University and Eolian in Imre… To try my hand at Sympathy and enjoy supremely beautiful music. The University and magical system sounds so cool that I’d definitely want to check it out. And after spending a long day trying to find the true names of things, I’d traipse on over to the Eolian, grab an ale, and listen to all the brilliant musicians playing for their Talent Pipes.
4) Hyrule… Because of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. ‘Nuff said. That’s right, this daydream of mine isn’t just limited to books. Ever since I first played Legend of Zelda, I’ve been entranced by Hyrule Kingdom. To keep my touristing within reason, I’d probably focus on seeing Hyrule Castle, the underwater world of Zora’s Domain, and a fairy cave.
5) Hogwarts… To make my childhood dream come true. This list wouldn’t be complete without Hogwarts. I’d vacation there on Halloween to see all the ghosts, floating jack-o’-lanterns, and nom pumpkin flavored everything. I’d also want to attend a couple classes like Charms and Transfiguration, and of course take the Weasley twins’ hidden passageway to the basement of Honeydukes.
What fictional destination would you choose to visit? What would you do there?
