Crossing Colfax, a.k.a. My First Publication
I’m ridiculously excited to announce that my short story titled Colfax, PI was selected to be a part of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers’ Crossing Colfax Anthology! This will be my first publication and I’m unbelievably honored that my story was picked.
I wrote this short story a couple months ago (and blogged about my inspiration for it here). It follows a vampire detective named Colfax who smokes to keep kosher while hunting down the schmuck who killed his assistant’s sister. Taking place in Denver (Colfax Ave, of course!), it involves gritty noir elements, dirty heroin, and a badass femme fatale sidekick named Lilah.
I can’t wait to share this story with everyone. The anthology comes out September-ish and I’ll keep you posted as I learn more!
What I’m reading: The Mind’s Eye by K.C. Finn
What I’m listening to: Elliott Smith — Either/Or
Congratulations, Kate!
Thank you, Jonna! 🙂
Congrats, Kate! Can’t wait to read it.
Thanks so much, Jane! I can’t wait for when everyone can read it 🙂
Congratulations on your selection! I’m also excited to have been chosen for this anthology. And, interesting, I also blogged about some of my inspiration for my story back at the time I completed it: http://bkwins.wordpress.com/2014/03/12/synchestra-unleashing-the-transdimensional-space-goat-on-americas-wickedest-street/
Your story sounds fun–I look forward to seeing it.
Thanks so much, Brian! Congrats to you as well and I look forward to reading your story! It was very cool to read about your inspiration — I listen to music when I write too. For my Colfax story, I listened to a lot of Nirvana unplugged, which seemed to put me the perfect mindset 🙂
Congratulations!! That’s great news!
Thank you, Teri! 🙂 I’m so excited to be able to share this good news!
so so so SO happy for you!!
Aw, thank you so much, Abby!!
I’m so tickled for you and having worked with RMFW, I know how PICKY they are about the writers they select. This is quite a reflection on your writing skills. Happy, happy for you.
Thanks so much, Julie! I’m continually amazed by what a great and supportive group RMFW is and can’t wait to work with them on this. I’m just honored they selected my quirky little story 🙂
