Kate Spooner is the author of the forthcoming domestic thriller, Sleep While They Sleep. Her cozy alter-ego is Kate Lansing, author of the author of the award-winning Colorado Wine Mystery Series. She lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, daughter, and two mischievous kitties.

Kate Lansing grew up in Evergreen, Colorado, where she shared her backyard with elk, black bears, and mountain lions (though usually not at the same time). She attended the University of Colorado Boulder, earning a BS in Applied Mathematics in 2007.

In the early hours of the morning while working as a statistician, and as a lifelong lover of books, she began writing her first novel. Four shelved manuscripts later, in a twist she still can’t quite believe, she landed a multi-book deal with Berkley. Her debut novel, Killer Chardonnay, was published in May 2020 and launched the Colorado Wine Mystery series, followed by A Pairing to Die For, Mulled to Death, and Till Death Do Us Port.

Under the name Kate Spooner, she also writes darker fiction, including the forthcoming domestic suspense thriller Sleep While They Sleep (Crooked Lane, February 23, 2027), a new-mom twist on Rear Window.

Kate is a Colorado Authors League Award Winner and a Reader’s Choice Author for 5280 Magazine’s Top of the Town. Her essay on Millennial cozy mysteries for CrimeReads has received more than 20,000 views.

She lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, daughter, and two mischievous kitties.
